While a full suit and tie was previously seen as the “correct” corporate meeting attire, CEOs, business leaders and the like are now adopting a more ‘trendy’ and relaxed dress code.
While many think that there is a lack of seriousness in dressing ‘business casual’, we beg to differ - it just needs to be done right!
If in doubt, check out our 4 Tips to Dress For Success.

At AJAY Apparel, we have a selection of bespoke, corporate garments that will keep you looking incredibly smart, yet seriously professional. We value comfort, style and quality next to none.
If you’re needing some help, we have listed some guidelines to stay true to the professional business casual style rather than leaning too much towards a slovenly work look.
1. Trousers
Trousers are historically essential to any corporate look, even in business casual. We recommend you invest in a good quality pair that will fit you perfectly.
The trick with trousers, is to ensure that your chinos or denims are the right fit and colour for the business casual look.
If you like denims, we highly recommend opting for a dark denim, either navy or black. If you prefer to wear chinos or straight legged trousers (ladies), go for navy, black or a stone colour. These will keep your professional look, while remaining comfortable and trendy.
Make sure your trousers of choice are not too tight (we don’t need to guess what underwear you have on today) and not too loose (we are not in a 2 Pac music video).
2. Denim
Let’s be honest, holes in your jeans, and the tie-dyed, faded denim look is not really what you should be seen wearing in your corporate office. When dressing business casual, there are some things you just avoid.
However, when wearing denim in the office it is important to dress it up somewhat. Aim for a single colour, darker denim for the smart and authoritative office look.
At AJAY Apparel, we have stuck to this rule! Check out our denim shirts fitted perfectly for men and women.
3. Keeping Warm
Keeping toasty on cold wintery days, yet maintaining your business casual look is easy peasy with the right garments!
We recommend a beautiful, good quality coat or a fitted jacket for the ladies. For gents, we recommend the sleeveless fleece, or a good quality coat or jacket.
As long as your jacket or knitted jersey is a classic colour, the right fit and smart enough for a corporate function, it will be a fantastic and versatile investment in your corporate wardrobe.
The business casual look is for both men and women in the corporate realm. It is all about integrating a little bit of your personal style into the comfortable yet stylish corporate sphere.
